Supply, Logistics and Cost Outlook

The global Gum Acacia market enters the final quarter of 2026 with a generally stable raw-material outlook, particularly for Acacia Seyal. At the same time, international logistics, energy prices and processing costs remain important factors influencing the overall cost of supplying finished Gum Acacia products.

The market is therefore characterised by improving raw-material visibility but continued volatility in the wider supply chain.

Acacia Seyal – Stable Outlook

The outlook for Acacia Seyal remains relatively positive. Availability has improved following the 2025/26 crop, while preparations for the next harvesting period provide additional confidence around future supply.

Seyal also benefits from a broader geographical sourcing base across the African Gum Belt, helping to diversify supply risk.

Based on current market conditions, we see no indication of a significant near-term change in Seyal raw-material pricing. The market should remain comparatively balanced, although weather conditions, harvest volumes and regional logistics will continue to be monitored closely.

Demand for Seyal is also developing beyond its traditional applications. Growing interest in natural soluble dietary fibre, gut health, functional nutrition and clean-label formulations is creating additional opportunities for Gum Acacia in nutritional products, beverages, bakery and other food applications.

Acacia Senegal – Supply Remains More Challenging

The situation for Acacia Senegal remains more constrained.

Sudan continues to be one of the world's most important sources of Acacia Senegal, and the continuing conflict has affected harvesting, internal transportation, processing and international trade. Traceability and the availability of reliably sourced material therefore remain particularly important considerations.

As a result, Senegal grades continue to carry greater supply and price risk than Seyal, and availability should be assessed carefully when planning forward requirements.

For customers with significant Senegal requirements, earlier volume planning and forecasting remains advisable.

International Freight –Volatility Continues

International logistics remains one of the most significant variables affecting the delivered cost of Gum Acacia.

Container freight rates on major Asia–Europe routes have shown some signs of easing, while the gradual return of some shipping services through the Suez Canal could increase effective vessel capacity and reduce some of the pressure created by longer routings around the Cape of Good Hope.

However, global freight costs remain very elevated and highly route-dependent. Middle East security conditions, Red Sea routing, port congestion, bunker costs and insurance premiums can change veryquickly.

We therefore expect gradual rather than immediate freight normalisation, with the possibility of further improvement towards the end of 2026 and into 2027 if geopolitical and shipping conditions continue to stabilise.

Energy & Manufacturing Costs Remain Under Pressure

While raw Gum Acacia prices are comparatively stable, the cost of converting raw gum into high-quality spray-dried and agglomerated products continues to face heavy inflationarypressure.

European natural gas prices remain substantially above the levels seen a year ago, while oil and refined-fuel markets continue to be volatile. These costs have a direct and indirect impact on:

  • Spray drying and agglomeration

  • Electricity and steam generation

  • Packaging materials

  • Inland transportation

  • Warehousing and distribution

  • International ocean freight

Consequently, stable raw-material prices do not necessarily translate into stable production and delivered costs.

This distinction will remain important as manufacturers and customers plan requirements for the remainder of 2026 and the beginning of 2027.

Our Recommendations

Based on the current  outlook, we suggest the following when planning requirements for 2027:

  • Seyal – secure first-half 2027 cover now. With supply balanced and no significant price movement expected, this is a good time to confirm Seyal volumes for the first half of 2027.

  • Senegal – share forecasts early. Because Senegal supply remains exposed to Sudan, please send us your 2027 Senegal requirements as early as possible. Early forecasts allow us to secure reliably sourced raw material and plan production well ahead of need.

  • Freight – keep quotation periods short. Freight can still change quickly. Shorter price validity, or quoting freight separately from product price, means any further easing in rates can be reflected in delivered prices.

  • New applications – involve us early. If you are developing products that use Gum Acacia as a soluble fibre or clean-label ingredient, talk to us at the start so we can advise on grade selection and arrange samples.

Looking Ahead

Overall, we remain cautiously positive about the Gum Acacia market. Seyal availability is relatively balanced and no significant raw-material price movement is currently anticipated. The approaching harvesting cycle should provide further visibility on the supply outlook for 2027.

Acacia Senegal requires closer monitoring because of its greater exposure to Sudan, while logistics and energy costs remain the principal sources of short-term uncertainty for the wider Gum Acacia supply chain.

We will continue to monitor new harvest developments, raw-material availability, freight rates and energy costs and keep our customers and distribution partners informed of any significant market changes.
